If you need some inspiration for your home, especially when you’re about to start remodelling or renovating, I can honestly say that going into a design centre always helps. It gives me lots of inspiration for my projects. While working there, I used to be surprised by how many people said that they never visited the centre before because they thought it’s only for trade and designers. Some clients even said that they felt intimidated by the environment and thought that it’s not for them until they started to walk around and found some really interesting pieces for their homes.
So if you’re around Chelsea definitely go and have a look. Here are my 5 showrooms to visit while in the centre.
1. NICHOLAS HASLAM
Even though Nicholas Haslam is very well known in the design world, his showroom stocks and showcases furniture, lighting and accessories which even you could have in your home. Pricewise is more mid to high end but very well made and high quality. So definitely you’ll find great investment pieces that are timeless and elegant. In terms of the style, it’s modern eclectic mix with a hint of antique.
STOCK RANGE: fabric collections, furniture, lighting, accessories, upholstery and bespoke pieces

2. INTERIOR SUPPLY
Interior Supply specialises mainly in contemporary design. So if you’re after modern Italian furniture, minimalist lighting and unusual accessories using modern and innovative materials, this is the right place for you. Pricewise it’s mid range but you will find some really affordable pieces there too.

I would describe Chaplins as a place to go if you’re after modern/contemporary classics. They stock Vitra, Kartell, Knoll, Dedon, B&B Italia to name few.¬†So as you can see it’s all about contemporary designs. Pricewise I think it’s more mid range to high end but they have really great accessories such as vases and decorative objects that are very affordable.
STOCK RANGE: furniture, garden furniture, storage solutions, lighting, accessories, upholstery, rugs, children’s furniture and toys
I love this shop. Simpsons specialises in high end handmade mirror and mirrored furniture and accessories design. They do bespoke as well so if you want one-offs this is the right place to go to. Pricewise more high end but if you catch one of their sales events you might get a great deal on really unique pieces.

5. GP & J BAKER
They have I think 2 or 3 showrooms in the centre. GP & J Baker specialises in fabrics and wallpaper but also represent other brands such as Kravet, Brunswick & Fils and Mulberry which also offer limited collections of furniture, lighting and accessories. Pricewise fabrics and wallpaper are mid to high end but if you need small amounts, some collections are perfectly affordable.
STOCK RANGE: wide selection of fabrics, wallpapers, limited collection of furniture, lighting and accessories
