I featured Nadia, the designer behind Penelope Hope, in our January issue of High In Style. I interviewed her for our “open up & inspire” feature which the motivational and inspirational section of the magazine. I love discovering women and chic mamas¬†who “make things happen” and who follow their dreams rather than settle for the second best. Nadia is definitely one of those women who take charge of their life.
You¬†know by now how much I love colour, pattern and creative thinking. When designing around bold colours and patterns, it’s important to have a balance. I see lots of interiors which, to me, are just OTT. Too much of everything. To bold,¬†too strong, too much in your face. Nadia clearly understands balance well. Even though her fabric design is bold and colourful she sets it against a blank canvas.. mainly white. It creates a stunning contrast but also let the design itself do the talking.
Another thing which is so appealing about Nadia’s work is that she doesn’t follow trends. It’s her surroundings (she’s based in Guernsey..lucky girl!!) that inspire her work. Let’s take a look¬†in her studio..
You can read the full interview with Nadia here. She talks about how she decided to start her own studio and shop and why. She also shares her experiences of pursuing her career while raising her family and her belief that having children shouldn’t stop you from doing what you love everyday. Hope you’ll find it interesting and inspiring!! Let me know on Twitter what you think!
