One of my favourite sources for design inspiration are hotels. Okay, let me rephrase that. I mean, five star hotels (and the good four starts as well). The thing about hotels, and en-suites in particular, is that they are relatively small but super functional and just feel so luxurious.
So how do they do it?

Here are the game changers:
1. Choice of materials
Did you ever walked in a luxurious hotel en-suite which didn’t have marble or precious stone somewhere in the room? I guess not. One of the best ways to elevate your bathroom to luxe instantly is through wall and floor tiles or slabs. The bigger, the more expensive. The more rare the stone is, the more expensive.
Onyx, petrified wood, exotic marbles, bespoke mosaic design such as oversized wall art are all great options to achieve that luxe feel.
Paying attention to detail is another game changer when it comes to luxe en-suites. So don’t underestimate the power of hardware. Don’t be afraid to mix metals for truly modern eclectic feel.
Rose gold, white gold, copper are great starting points. My place to go? Bathroom International. They stock exclusive hardware designs you won’t believe your eyes!
3. Towel heaters
This one is pretty obvious. What makes or break the space is the heater design itself. Again investing in highly unusual materials and style is the way forward.
Do you ever wish you could just take the hotel’s shower home with you? They are SO good!¬†These oversized rainforest shower heads definitely add a shot of drama to a shower area and completes the high design look to the en-suite.
Hansgrohe is a great place to start.
5. Candles and scents
A simple touch but so effective! I believe that room isn’t complete without a scent in a same way as any dress is incomplete without eau de perfume!
I love Jo Malone and Vulspa but there are lots of other great luxury brands on the market.
6. Lucite make-up and luxury storage containers
Lucite is everywhere these days. Mixed with golden trim and voila.. a luxury must have product.
Jonathan Adler and Kelly Wearstler stores are places to go.
My next¬†luxury element which any en-suite shouldn’t be without is white fluffy towels. They immediately add the luxe feel no matter what kind of en-suite style you have. Again, very simple and affordable touch but so effective. If you really want to go for it, add your own custom monogram.
I always say that one shouldn’t underestimate the power of lighting. And especially when it comes to small spaces such as en-suites, this design elements shouldn’t be overlooked. Because..
And that’s how you should approach it! Imagine that you’re buying the most beautiful earrings for your en-suite! Play with different materials / metals – gold, silver, crystals and lighting technologies. En-suites need lots of it!
Have a great weekend!
