Over the Christmas period we had some friends visiting us and while we were catching up on what’s going on in our lives, our conversation turned to a possible redesign of their interiors.
We started looking at some fabric and wallpaper samples from my library and in the end agreed on a complete open plan living room, kitchen and dining room makeover. Here is my proposal to them for their living room.
The request was to bring the scheme to neutral since at the moment the space is a mishmash of different colours, styles and furniture. As it is an open plan space it needs to be tied together by one theme that flows throughout but bringing some interest to each zone. We chose this stunning wallpaper from Osborne & Little called Vienna as a starting point.
It has this 3d-mosaic-like effect in different shades and tones of brown. From deep chocolate dark brown to almost silvery grey, this wallpaper is a great backdrop for their existing wall TV-storage unit which is in high gloss laminate. The contrast be will stunning. I had to work around their existing Italian ceramic floor tiles, which have streaks of subtle pink, grey, beige and cream. We played with lots of fabric combos for cushions and curtains but in the end we settled on this..
The curtains will be made from Kali Silver from Artic – Chase Erwin. The fabric for cushions are from Clarke & Clarke. I suggested a new coffee table from Habitat and new tall glass table lamps from Porta Romana. Their white leather corner sofa will stay.
This room will set the scene for the rest of the open plan. Next week I will be working on the proposals for the kitchen and dining room.
