Black diamond

One thing about being a designer is that it never stops for me. I live and breathe design. So when I got the opportunity to change our hallway and landing AGAIN!! (not even after a year), I just had to do it. For this project I’ve teamed up with my favourite lighting supplier, Iconic Lights. I wasn’t really very happy with the upstairs upcycled light we had there before, which I did for ORC last year. So for the last few months I’ve been looking around for something more current yet timeless. Here I give you my black diamond.

I had a vision in my head that I wanted the upstairs light to be more funky (we have crystal chandeliers downstairs), more eclectic. I must admit I’m not a big fan of the industrial black and white look simply because it’s not for our type of house. But I always imagined a black pendant there. Why black?

Because I love mixing metals and we have absolutely no metal in black upstairs whatsoever. PLUS I thought black would be the perfect contrast buddy for our white bedroom doors. The black diamond (that’s what I call the light which you obviously have figured it out by now) is absolutely perfect. Yes, you might think it’s industrial but to me I see more of the diamond shape in it so I’m totally cool with it.

I knew I was going to change the wallpaper for some time. Yes, I’m putting my hand up and admit I got bored of the pink geometric paper pretty quickly. It was lovely but “it wasn’t you it was me!”

Instead, I played with the idea of having a plain textured number which I could live with for many years to come (I wish!!). I just had to go for it. Check out my new textures. From top left: wallpaper, rug, juju hat (downstairs) and black diamond.

The hallway is now officially finished..until hopefully a long time. Confession: you know well that I don’t do sponsored post here on Inside KB Studio but I made an exception. I love Iconic Lights. I think they are one of the few retailers who keep on top of what’s currently rocking the interior design industry. What’s more they are able to supply great quality products at great prices too. I was given the black diamond but I totally chose it myself for this particular makeover.
