Next is running a great competition right now until 29th September inspired by the London Fashion Week. The prize is a stay for two in London and £200 worth of clothes from Next. The idea is that you pick your all time favourite model and “virtually” dress her in Next clothes. So while waiting for my computer to do its updates and whatever it needed to do, I quickly browsed through their catalogue and when my laptop was back up and running I’ve pulled together a “look” for Linda Evangelista. Now I know that she’s not current but I remember her as an always-haircut-colour-changing- kind of girl. I think she was one of the few supermodels who were open to any hairdo back in the 90s for the sake of creating a beautiful editorial. Also I remember her in magazines with lots of fur and her colourful Chanel campaign. And the George Michael’s video! Do you remember? Anyway. Here’s what I came up with.
Now I approach fashion in a similar way as interiors. And as she was a very adventurous model but chic and classy I based “the look” around 3 bold colours – emerald green, cobalt blue and fuchsia pink. I started with the faux fur gilet and then added the green floral shirt with the bow. Then I added the black PU trousers and the cobalt blue ankle boots for contrast. I don’t normally match handbags with shoes (it’s so obvious and many people do that but to me it can be little bit lazy). However in this instance I decided that cobalt blue small-ish over the should bag is the best for balance. I have a thing about putting a scarf around my bag (just in case I needed when the weather turns too windy and cold). So I was looking for one that is light material but with another punch of colour that would break up the whole matchy-matchy style. I found this gorgeous fuchsia pink print scarf and to let the story flow I added the rose gold plated watch with the pink dial. In terms of jewellery I wanted long pendant of some kind because the short bow is the feature around the top half if that makes sense. Pearls equal chic and go so well with leather, fur and really anything. I would layer them up maybe with 2 or 3 necklaces so they get noticed too. Finally a hat to complete the look. A must have that’s for sure.
And that’s it. If you want to take part just create your own look, write a post about it and use #NextLFWmodel on Twitter.
