Front door colour options

Recently I have been looking at front door colours for inspiration. Our front door is in a serious need of a new lick of paint. At the moment it’s ruby red which we inherited from the developer but I want to change it to more contemporary colour. I’m leaning towards darker grey, black or taupe. Here are some pictures I like.

I like the simple black satin finish door I found on Elements of Style blog. I think black is so elegant and timeless colour and because our door frame is white, it will make a nice sharp contrast between the colours and the brick walls as well. I always thought that gloss is better but I will definitely go for satin or exterior eggshell finish. All black options I selected from Farrow & Ball.

My second option is go for dark-ish grey. See the contrast with the white frame on the middle picture? It’s so fresh and crisp! Will go well with the bricks too. The colours I’ve chosen are from Farrow & Ball.

My third option is taupe/ green brown. I found this one in my Dulux Trade colour fan and I love it. I would mix it with some stainless steel planters and bright green buxus like this…

The light is from Castlegate Lights, the planters I found on Houzz and the Greek Key doormat is from Makeanentrance.

Which colour would you go for? Stay tuned for the makeover.
