I’ve been a big fan of Kit Kemp, an interior designer, who is the head of design for all Firmdale hotels. The group started with one boutique hotel in London and expanded to 8 and an apartment residence plus they also have a hotel in New York on Crosby Street. I love how she embraces colour, texture and pattern in her work. Each room is designed in different colour ways and scheme but there is a running theme throughout which keeps it cohesive and immediately recognisable. Let’s take a look at some of my favourites and then I’ll show you how you can add your personality into your bedroom at the end of this post based on these great interiors.
Two bedroom Crosby suite in NY
Two bedroom Richmond Suite in Soho, London
One bedroom Suite in NY
I love how she uses headboard in the bedrooms as a focal point.
One of the restaurants. Love that feature light on the wall. Such a great idea. It adds so much character, don’t you think?
And another example of feature lighting which anchor the space to make it more welcoming and warm.
Let’s take it to another level with my favourite The Ham Yard Hotel in London and the Terrace Suite.
See how each space is very different but altogether it’s very cohesive, elegant and full of personality?
To make your bedroom as a reflection of your personality you need to follow these 4 steps:
STEP 1. Use headboard as a focal point
STEP 2. Use art as an expressive element
STEP 3. Use curtains to introduce new texture, colour and pattern to window area
STEP 4. Mix fabrics with different textures and patterns
STEP 5. Do all of the above but stick to your core 4 colours / colour palette
Feeling inspired? Have you stayed in one the Firmdale Hotels before? Do you take inspiration from your hotel stay?
