In the studio update and giveaway

I have been so busy recently that I just realised that I missed to do Monday’s giveaway this week. So let me apologise but on top of everything last week was also the London Design Week, which I’m going to review in a separate post and I haven’t been feeling well due to a viral infection. Anyway, here is an update from my studio:

1. Playroom makeover is almost complete

Just waiting for the two office chairs for the kiddies. I was torn between transparent chair like this..

or this grey fabric one from John Lewis..

In the end I’ve ordered the one from John Lewis. Its wheely mechanism is so smooth and light. The material seems quite robust and the chair is well padded.

The rest of the room is complete. The wallpaper made such a big difference to the space. The faux Roman blinds went up on Monday. This is a great way to save money not only on the fabric amount but also the Roman blind kit. In this room, there is already a Venetian blind so there was no need for full length Roman. I made a rectangle from a Designer’s Guild remnant fabric and lining, which is 150cm wide x 100cm drop. I created one fake fold and put a slim aluminium bar through it as well as in the bottom fold. The top of the blind is attached to the wall with Velcro.

I hope to show you some more photos next week.

2. TV cabinet makeover
Last week I have purchased this TV cabinet on ebay..

Sorry about the blur picture! Sometimes on the iphone the pictures look okay and then they are like this!
Anyway, I have completed stage one and two of this project – sanding, priming and first coat in Farrow & Ball Pavilion Gray is up.

Take a look…

I have decided to leave the top as it is. I really like to wood pattern and it wouldn’t be right to cover it. More pics to follow once complete.

Back to my giveaway this week. Since my week has been dominated by my diy projects, I’m giving away Linda Baker’s “Jazz up your junk” book. Would you believe that this book was published 13 years ago? I still refer to it now. One of the timeless books one should have!

To enter all you have to do is “Like” and “Share” on my Facebook.

Good Luck everyone, hope you win.

A winner will be notified next week on Wednesday.
