When I got the oopsie daisy wallpaper sample from Harlequin the other day, I thought I had to do my smart buy series with it. I had some time today to sit down and search for some lilac accents which would go well with it.
I must admit that it was a real challenge to find the right products within the £50 price mark. But I’ve managed to come up with following accents which would update a girl’s bedroom – from toddler to teen age. So here they are – my lilac smart buys under £50.
1/ Oopsie daisy wallpaper from Harlequin, £31.00 per roll (available from my KB Home shop)
2/ Monogram lilac cushion from Zazzle.co.uk, £24.95
3/ Dark lilac bowl from Ikea, £2.99
4/ Striped lilac wall clock from Cafepress, £36.00
5/ Coloured striped rug from Zara Home, £19.99
6/ Lilac table lamp from Amazon.co.uk, £18.19
Have a look at my moodboard I created using these products in a girl’s bedroom setting. I would use the wallpaper as a focal point behind the bed and keep the remaining walls neutral. Fired Earth or Farrow & Ball would be my starting points for the wall paint options. If your flooring needs updating as well, I would go for a light beige carpet (don’t be afraid to use light carpets in bedrooms or kids rooms in general because the aim is to layer it and protected from stains and daily wear). If you want wood flooring , your options are much wider from light oak to dark walnut – all would look good. You just layer the flooring with the rug or rugs depending on the size of your room. My trademark is mixing patterns, so I’ve mixed florals with stripes (in different proportions and sizes) which is running through the scheme.
Don’t you just love this wallpaper? It makes such an impact, just on one wall and with few other accessories and a lick of paint you can refresh your daughter’s bedroom with minimal impact on your wallet.
Have a great weekend.
