One Room Challenge: week 3.

So I’m in week 3 of my hallway/landing makeover challenge. If you missed my previous weeks posts you can find them here and here. Last week I finalised my wallpaper choices which I ordered today. Over the next few days I’m planning to buy the storage shelving / bookcases. When I’m in London next week I want to stop off at West Elm to pick up some decorative pieces for display.

Today I want to show you some ideas for the staircase wall. As you can see above I did a quick drawing how I see the wall decorated. I definitely want layers. For now I’m inclining to have the teal grasscloth wallpaper panels (a leftover I have from when I was papering around our entry on the right hand side).  I think that wallpapering the whole left wall which runs along our staircase might be too much. So instead I want to carry on with the teal wallpaper story just in panels which I want to use as a background for pictures or mirrors.

I got the inspiration from this design. Take a look.

I also like how Kelly Wearstler layers her walls.

This is what I tried earlier with some tape to see the panels.

Not sure yet. Maybe I go for the mirror wall. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

How are you getting on? If you don’t know One Room Challenge it was set up by lovely Linda from Calling it home. Designers and design enthusiasts get to work on their individual room makeovers while supporting each other through the process. Check all the participants out by clicking on the logo below. So much inspiration, great ideas and amazing designs.

So cool that you are joining in the ORC from across the pond! I think you should do the O&L dragonfly wallpaper in panels – so fun! And it works well with the pink paper upstairs. Just my 2 cents!
