One room challenge: week 5

I’m seriously behind. It’s half term so I have both girls at home which means that all my work and hallway makeover is not progressing as I would wanted to. I haven’t  finalised the ceiling light yet but I have chosen the rug. I also managed to get the new shelving units in and went to West Elm to get some decorative bits and bobs.

I put this up on my Facebook page and to my surprise all comments were for option “B”. I prefer “A” so that’s why I can’t decide. It’s so difficult to find a great lighting within my price range. I think the UK market doesn’t offer as much as choice as in the US. The starburst lighting is also available in antique gold. If I went for it I would have to call in an electrician since the cabling would have to move more above the staircase (because it’s quite big) rather than above the landing which is where it is now. I really have to make a decision this weekend.

The runner I’ve chosen is this light grey geometric number. It’s very subtle and light. Since the wallpaper is more curvy I wanted a pattern which is more sharp and edgy.

I’m really not sure if I can finish everything by the end of next week. The kids are still at home so it’s going to be very very hard. Fingers crossed.
Here’s what still needs to be done:

1. Staircase panelling
2. Install lighting
3. Painting the banister
4. Painting walls
5. Framing downstairs mirror
6. Styling

If you missed my previous weeks check them out: WEEK 1. / WEEK 2. / WEEK 3. / WEEK 4.

Also take a look at all the other participants by clicking on the logo below. Some really excellent projects are being installed. It’s such a great source of inspiration.
