My open plan project update

I’ve been working on this project for about 3 months now but finally we are moving from planning to execution stage. Have a look at my initial proposal drawings. The floor plan looks like this..

The living area has large glass patio doors and a window. I was working around the existing TV media wall unit, tiled flooring and the leather sofa.

Since then we have changed few things. One of them is the fabric for curtains. We decided to go for Mark Alexander zig zag pattern linen/wool mix fabric which I matched with Farrow & Ball paint.

Also we scrapped the idea of installing a wallpaper on the TV media wall. Instead I’ve designed a floating ceiling element with white LED lighting. The new office area, which I’m currently working on will have a existing sofabed re-upholstered in one of these fabrics from Clarke & Clarke.

It’s from their latest collection, Portfolio. You can have a look at it here. The prices start on £16 per metre! Meaning that to re-upholster a 2 seater sofa would cost you under £100 on material. I’ve chosen 100% polyester, for practical reasons, highly durable fabric that will look stunning, as it shimmers a little but also will withstand everyday usage.

For the main seating area I’m designing a bespoke marble top coffee table. Finding the right marble slab will be the biggest challenge. I’m leaning towards calacatta, white carrara or crema marfil. Here is my inspiration…

I also have to finalise the table lamps, cushions and rugs.

Stay tuned for the final reveal!

Have a great bank holiday weekend.
