Not always things go to plan. I have been working on this playroom for over a month now. You can have a look at my initial proposals here. Before I started to order the products we have decided to change the design
so there is more consistency and flow throughout the house. In order to do that the first thing that had to go was the bright and colourful rug, around which the first two proposals were designed. Have a look at the lastest design which we are going ahead with. No turning back now – wallpaper, rug and fabrics are ordered and the walls and all the woodwork is being painted. Take a look..
The walls are painted in Dulux Hay Bale and the existing built-in wardrobes in Farrow & Ball Old White No.4. There will be a Roman blind or a pelmet covered in Designer’s Guild Miami fabric which will be a nice offset for the stripy metallic PT wallpaper which we kept the same (from the original proposal). The rug we’ve chosen is from Urban Outfitters. We will also upcycle the existing black office chair and reupholster it in Clarke & Clarka Reyes fabric. The kiddies chairs will be transparent for easy cleaning. The biggest edition to the room will be, to the kids delight and hopefully the parents too, this hanging chair from Ikea. Initially we played with the idea of having a hanging bubble chair but because it is quite big (it’s 1150mm wide and 650mm deep) we decided that this would be a much better option proportion-wise for this room. Moreover it doesn’t burn a hole in your wallet like the bubble chair would. Almost 10 x less, actually. We have also changed the ceiling pendant and we ordered this almost Sputnik like number which requires low energy bulbs and will give out bright light from its 8 glass baubles. Finally, the proposed table lamps are from Jonathan Adler. They are statement pieces and at £275 each they certainly would be a great investment.
Stay tuned for the install!
