Hexagons are one of my favourite geometric elements for introducing some personality into a space. They go well with everything – stripes, floral, damask, texture, graphics, abstract. They are so simple to mix thanks to its regularity, structure and form. I would normally go for only one hexagonal element in the room and introduce the opposite (such as more round, fluid pattern) for movement. Jonathan Adler and Greg Natale are masters in mixing hexagons and creating super cool interiors with them. But you need a great deal of confidence to execute the geometric clash well. Also when working with multiple patterns, scale and balance play a major role. You don’t want to go too bold and crazy that it becomes too overwhelming and uncomfortable to be in.
So go on and turn up the heat with hexagons in your home. You can start with some of the wallpaper featured on my moodboard above. Keep it nice and neutral, and add colour through furnishings and accessories.
Can’t go wrong with that!
