Finally I have some time to catch up on a pile of magazines and books. My prescription for anti-depressive living by Jonathan Adler in particular I was most excited about to read. He is my favorite designer because not only he’s pushing the boundaries of design but also he’s not afraid to use bold colours, patterns and textures.
I’m drawn to his style as it is so colourful, fun and little bit hippie but so chic at the same time.
It’s been first published in 2005 but this is a type of the book that you can read any time and it feels current. His philosophy to happy living is through surrounding yourself with objects you love, no matter how crazy they are and what other people might think. As long as you feel happy once you walk through your front door, that’s what matters the most. You should not deny yourself from comfort and luxury, he says. Through the pages of his book you will be encouraged to be bolder in your decor and all other aspects of your life. I like these colour combos in particular..
Red, orange, purple and lime green accents on neutral background.
Love this geometric pattern play – hexagons are so chic.
See how yellow with brown and purple with orange accent are perfect together.
This is a perfect example of how to dress a leather sofa.
Pink, gold, white and black – when well balanced it’s elegant.
If you’re craving for colour inspiration and don’t have this book yet, get it on Amazon. So inspirational.
